The Neighbourhood Watch Scheme was inaugurated by the Association in January 1986 and has been notably successful in virtually eliminating crime on the estate. The Patch Representatives act as the Neighbourhood Watch Co-Ordinators. |
Neighbourhood Watch involves |
1 |
Cooperation between residents themselves - assisting neighbours by keeping an eye on their property and noting anything out of the ordinary or suspicious. |
2 |
Co-operation between residents and the Police |
3 |
Communication - most important if the scheme is to be effective. |
As a resident your first point of contact is your Patch representative in their role as Neighbourhood Watch group co-ordinator. He or she will be kept informed by the Neighbourhood Watch officer who will be in touch on a fairly regular basis with the Police Officer responsible for Neighbourhood Watch Schemes in Epping. |
What to do: |
1 |
In an emergency dial 999. Your call goes directly to Police HQ in Chelmsford and the nearest available mobile unit is directed too the scene. This may not be an Epping based unit, so precise details and some directions may be needed. |
2 |
Non - emergency calls should be made to the local police station in Epping High Street, telephone Epping 561212. |
