Make sure if you have any tools, ladders etc that a housebreaker might find useful, that they are safely locked away, preferably out of sight. Some break ins have been through the garage, so make sure yours is secure, and if you are away lock the internal door as well.

The Incident Report Cards are for reporting incidents that you would not normally consider important enough to warrant a telephone call, but significant enough not to go unrecorded, Please complete a card should you notice anything suspicious, unfamiliar, or out of context, and pass it to your group co-ordinator.

The Neighbourhood Watch officer has spare cards, stickers, brochures and pamphlets issued by the Police, which are of interest (e.g. On burglary prevention and security) These can be obtained through your Patch Representative. You are strongly advised to postcode your property using ultra-violet pen (available from stationers). For further details please contact your Patch representative.

Advice on making homes secure

If you want advice on making you home secure, the Police provide free house surveys. Residents should contact the Crime Prevention Officer, Police Station, High Street, Ongar, CM5 9AG, telephone 01277 362013.
