Theydon Grove is very close knit community and we would like to think that with a little thought for our neighbours the estate will continue to be a pleasant, peaceful environment to live in. With this in mind if the following points are kept in mind hopefully the things that could be become a nuisance to our neighbours will be stopped before becoming so.
Noise
Theydon Grove is a very close-knit community and we ask you not to inadvertently offend you neighbours with unnecessary noise, children playing, parking etc. For example, during the summer it is very easy to make a lot of noise in the garden sometimes to the annoyance of your neighbours.
Children
Some residents are particularly disturbed by large groups of children playing in the street during the summer months. Please consider your neighbours and be sure that your children are not being a nuisance or creating a disturbance.
Trees
Another complaint the Committee receives from time to time is about trees. A number of trees planted 30 years or more ago have grown very tall and cut out the sun from neighbours gardens. If you have large trees in your garden please check to see if they shade neighbours gardens and if necessary please consider having them trimmed. However we suggest you ask your neighbours first as they may welcome the shade provided by your tree. Shrubs and roses that grow over onto paths and pavements should also be cut back regularly.
Dogs
The Committee appeals to dog owners to exercise proper control over their pets to avoid them fouling our footpaths, open areas and gardens, and to prevent undue disturbance from noise. New residents may be interested to know that there is plenty of good exercise area adjoining the Stonards Hill playing field.
Car Parking
From time to time we all experience difficulties in parking our cars, or getting into or out of our drives. Kerbside space is at a premium, so please park thoughtfully where you will not cause an obstruction to other road or foot path users. If you have guests it would be helpful to suggest the best place for them to park. Do not forget that it is an offence to park on the pavement or within 15 yards of a road junction or to park causing an obstruction to other road users or members of the public. In 1996 Traffic Wardens started issuing parking tickets to cars parked up on the pavement on Theydon Grove. As many cars are still parked on the road please try and use your driveway to ease the parking problems that all residents now suffer from.
